Using the natural resources and topography of Sugihara's Gifu, the Memorial was built on a site at the "Hill Of Humanity", overlooking the Town of Yaotsu. The Memorial is built solely from Hinoki trees that are abundant in the forests of Gifu, and is surrounded with a Japanese style garden. The interior is spacious and has natural lighting from the large frame windows of the building. The various exhibits portray Sugiharaﾕs life, his deeds in those two critical months, and the routs his survivors have taken from Kaunas to Japan and on. It is dedicated to sending a message of peace and the legacy that Mr. Sugihara has left behind, to Japan, and the whole world.
